For the past 6 years I have designed posters for Seattle rock club El Corazon. They are almost all designed while keeping in mind that they are to be laser printed in black and white and then posted all over town by street teams. So I am almost always working with a grayscale color palette.
I usually try to limit the time spent on each poster design to one hour in order to actually make money while keeping my fee reasonable for the client. I am often only given a week's notice to turn something around. But, on any given month, I design upwards of 12-20 posters. So, I have literally done hundreds of them. Here's just a small sample:
This poster was a special request from the band Schoolyard Heroes. It is a 7-color screen print that was limited to 100 posters that was sold or raffled off at the show.
I was recently commissioned by a buddy of mine to produce an over-sized, full-color pseudo-punk rock show poster for his sister's 40th birthday party. The only details that he gave me besides the event specifics were that she has a soft spot for small, furry animals and Mr. Pibb. Here's what I came up with...
