About 2 years ago, my buddy Nate Murphy and I began writing the script for a 24-issue comic book series called "The Two Percent Solution". The story concerns two survivors of an unspecified apocalypse as they ride vintage Vespa scooters across the country in search of other survivors. We worked with artist Ryan Hobson for the first 3 issues and are currently working with new artist Leroy Davis on issue number 4.
We have had many good reviews from the likes of the Comic Book Geek Speak podcast, Knights of the Dinner Table magazine and more. Sales have been steadily growing and Nate and I attend as many ComiCons as we can to promote the book.
Besides creating and writing the book, I also design the page layouts as well as handle all of the lettering and sound/special effects.
We currently self-publish the series and sell it in all of the major Northwest comic shops and online at Indy Planet.
We are also developing a digital version of the series to deliver via download on our website as well as on iTunes.
Nate and I also write and produce an ongoing comic strip in Scoot! Magazine (readership of 30,000+ worldwide). The strip is called "The Unlovables" and it follows the exploits of the lead character of "The Two Percent Solution" when he was a teenager back in 1984. It is pure slice of life stuff with no mention of the apocalypse that Jake will face in another 25 years.
We recently launched a web comic version of the series at www.unlovables.net!!!
2010 EMERALD CITY COMICON
This weekend was the 10th Annual Emerald City ComiCon. Our "con" has grown to be one of the largest in the country and draws some HUGE talent from around the world. Creators such as STAN FUCKING LEE, Ed Brubaker, Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction and Ben Templesmith as well as media stars such as LEONARD FUCKING NIMOY and Lou Ferrigno. There are also hundreds of weirdos dressed up as super heroes, Star Wars characters and who-knows-what.
Anyway, we had a table in Artist Alley where we were selling our books. It was awesome to connect with the fans. We sold a ton of books, did some interviews for great podcasts such as The Backroom Comics Podcast and Seattle Geekly and generally had a great time enjoying all things comic book.
Now, I am soooooo exhausted. So, I am just gonna post all the pictures below in no particular order.
